Portuguese cookery break

Algarve, Faro, Portugal

Holiday Itinerary

If you’re looking for a wonderfully relaxing break while learning to prepare and cook classic Portuguese dishes in a sunny climate, this is the perfect getaway for you.

For 3 nights, your hosts will take excellent care of you while you stay in their beautifully renovated hilltop farmhouse, where your cooking classes and wonderful meals take place. Portuguese food tastes its best when you’re eating it alfresco in the sunshine, overlooking the ocean - trust us.

Located in a rural location, you will have all of the peace and relaxation of a holiday, but still be within a 20 minute walk to the city of Tavira, so you can do some exploring in your downtime.

The accommodation & kitchen where the cooking lessons take place is an authentic, family-run business where you'll learn recipes passed down through the generations and learn the beauty of using fresh, local ingredients fresh from the sea and land. They even have their own organic garden onsite which produces wonderful fresh produce & herbs for your cookery lessons.

In addition to famed seafood dishes, pork, and gorgeous meals in a cataplana, taste homemade regional bread, try the delicious preserves and jams as well as the typical carob and almond truffles so well known to the region.

Your host, Mariana, and her family are all passionate about food and will welcome you as if you’re family, giving you the perfect authentic Portuguese experience. This holiday is so much more than cooking techniques and recipes, you will taste and learn real Portuguese ingredients, go to a local market, learn about the local products, meet a local producer and experience the local lifestyle and culture by meeting and cooking with a family in a traditional farm house.

Along with the food, there’s so much more to this lovely escape that will really help you get to know this area of Portugal - go on a tuk tuk city tour, a boat ride through the Ria Formosa Natural Reserve & visit a local producer. This will be 4 days you’re not likely to ever forget, and may just have to come back sometime to get another fix of beautiful Portugal and its flavours.
